343 gave a pretty clear answer to this question.

Halo Infinite was revealed at E3 2018’s Microsoft conference and judging by its teaser trailer it wants to go back to its roots, more specifically to the style and atmosphere of the first game, Halo: Combat Evolved. Because Battle Royale is a quite a big thing nowadays, it’s understandable that people are curious if this game mode will be in Halo Infinite as well.

Fortunately, Jeff Easterling from 343 made a pretty clear statement about this that represents his team’s opinion: „I’ll tell you right now, the only ’BR’ we’re really interested in is ’Battle Rifle.’ The original BR. So, calm yourselves.”.

By the way, it’s clear that Halo would probably be a pretty good fit for Battle Royale, but it’s better to come up with something new and fresh rather than chasing trends. Halo Infinite looks to be quite an ambitious project anyway based on what we know about it so far, so it’s better if the team focuses on more important aspects, such as deepening and developing the campaign mode instead of making Battle Royale.
