Could Peter Weller return to the new Robocop movie?

MOVIE NEWS – If the director really wants it, maybe it can happen somehow.

Neil Blomkamp – director of the critically acclaimed District 9 – is going to direct the new Robocop movie. What’s interesting is that it won’t be a reboot, at least not in its traditional sense. It’ll rather be a soft reboot that will be a direct continuation of the original, but at the same time, it will probably bring fresh characters eventually to the series.

Considering that the movie will continue the story of 1987’s Robocop, it would make sense if the same guy would play the titular character who played him back then. It’s Peter Weller who is still acting regularly. The problem is he’s 71-years-old now.

Regardless, Neil Blomkamp recently stated on Twitter that he would like to see him make a return and the play the main character in the upcoming sequel. However, it would be hard to pull off, considering the nature of the Robocop movies and the fact that it will be an R-rated movie.

There’s still a chance though, but the movie still doesn’t have a release date yet, and we don’t know either when will it enter production.

According to him, sex, games and movies are the most important parts of his life. And he''s a "hardcore in each of them".
