Everything will be answered next week. Until then, Google pulled a rabbit out of its hat: they managed to hire a well-known person from the gaming industry!
So here’s a teaser video that is about the „future of gaming,” including multiple genres along the half minute from sport to fantasy to action, which means Google‘s rumoured streaming console might cover them all in the future. (Their controller was also discussed a few days ago – its design might have changed since, though…) This could be their Project Yeti announcement, but on the Game Developers Conference, where their keynote will start at 10 AM Pacific / 1 PM Eastern on March 19 (5 PM UK time, 6 PM CET), they might also talk about Project Stream, which was tested in America last year with Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, allowing a few lucky people to play the game via a Google Chrome browser, given they had a powerful Internet connection.
The person who Google managed to hire was previously helping create the Assassin’s Creed franchise before she moved to Electronic Arts to work on Star Wars (until her October departure). We’re talking about Jade Raymond, who announced the news on Twitter: „I’m excited to finally be able to share that I have joined Google as [a] Vice President!” We don’t know her exact position or her tasks to do, but one thing can be said already: by hiring Raymond, Google seems to be serious about their gaming project.
Google might announce something big next week. Just a few days left to see what they have in store for us.
I’m excited to finally be able to share that I have joined Google as VP!
