XIII will soon blam, blam, blam, shoot he was through on modern consoles in the XIII remake.
The reason we say soon is that Microids announced two weeks ago that the developers require more time to have XIII’s remake up to the required quality: „We are thrilled with PlayMagic’s work so far. This additional development time is needed to reach the level of polish we’re aiming for. The announcement was greeted by an overwhelming response from the community and we’ll make sure to deliver the best possible game to our fans,” the announcement said then. We just shook our heads.
„Play as “Thirteen,” a talented soldier who lost his memory and has been accused of killing the President of the United States. You wake up injured and amnesic on Brighton Beach with the only clue being a small key and a mysterious tattoo “XIII” next to your clavicle. It’s now your job to search for answers in the 34 levels of the solo campaign. Don’t worry, you will find the appropriate weapon arsenal along the way,” the press release says about the cel-shaded FPS.
XIII was published by Ubisoft (who might have let their license expire, which doesn’t seem to happen, especially with major publishers…) in 2003 on PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC, shortly followed by a Nintendo GameCube and Mac OSX port. Jason Fly’s adventures were entertaining, and the new pictures (via Facebook seem to continue the art style from the yesteryear as well.
The XIII remake will launch in 2020 (no idea when – the first release date was meant to be November 13…) on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mac. Let’s hope it will be successful so that a sequel could be made. If Asterix & Obelix XXL pulls it off, why can’t XIII?
