Death Stranding Might Get A Launch Party

Hideo Kojima’s first game after leaving Konami: Death Stranding has big hype surrounding it.

Kojima regularly tends to share screenshots and photos of Death Stranding on Twitter. The newest one is outstanding for several reasons. On it, we see Sam „Bridges” Porter, the game’s protagonist, without glasses. We can point multiple things out on this photo – first off, the environment looks extremely detailed (and Guerrilla Games’ Decima engine might show its full power on home soil – we wouldn’t be surprised if Horizon Zero Dawn’s sequel becomes a next-gen PlayStation launch title…), perhaps in even a higher quality of details than what The Order: 1886 had (Ready at Dawn, the devs, used black bars in that game though), and also, Sam has circles around his eyes, which means that our hero suffers from sleep deprivation, which might affect the gameplay as well. (We’re merely guessing here – we don’t know the impact of the lack of sleep yet.)

„4 years ago, today was the release day of Metal Gear Solid V[: The Phantom Pain]. This photo was [taken] when I sneaked into the store. It’ll be the first time in four years when Death Stranding is released on November 8. I’d like to do the launch event [for the] first time in nine years if possible, even though doing events is passé. The last one was in 2010 for [Metal Gear Solid:] Peace Walker,” Kojima wrote on Twitter.

However, Kojima himself said that launch events have gone out of style, so even he doesn’t think it’s likely that Death Stranding (which will also have a first-person perspective) would get one. We’ll see on November 8, when the game launches on PlayStation 4. Six or twelve months later, we might also receive a PC port due to no exclusivity text on the game’s box art.
