The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition: Earning Money With An Easy Mod?

As Telltale has been revived via LCG Entertainment that managed to get most of the remnants and licenses (except for The Walking Dead, as it went home to Skybound, who finished the final season of the game), it was bound to happen.

This time, the interesting thing is that The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition‘s press release, which was written by the to-be-publisher Athlon Games, has been DELETED, but Gematsu managed to save it. Earlier this year, Athlon Games pledged to publish five games from Telltale Games, including Batman: The Telltale Series, Batman: The Enemy Within, and The Wolf Among Us. (The latter’s sequel has been announced again, and the first season is currently available for free on the Epic Games Store.) „We’re excited to be able to build and continue the legacy of an iconic Telltale Games franchise by launching The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition today. This is just the beginning in a much more expansive plan to build on our catalogue of Telltale Games titles, which we hope to discuss in further detail in the coming months,” said Telltale Games CEO Jamie Ottilie in the press release. (It’s not available yet! The word today doesn’t work.)

Batman: The Telltale Series cast players into the fractured psyche of Bruce Wayne in a dark and violent original story and challenges players with discovering the powerful and far-reaching consequences of choice as the Dark Knight. As Batman, players will encounter classic allies and adversaries and will learn the true meaning of what it means to be the man behind the cowl as Bruce Wayne,” the overview of the first season says.

Now comes the weird part – according to the deleted press release, The Telltale Batman Shadows Edition is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), including the first two seasons, a noir-style visual makeover, graphical upgrade, and DLC, which we have yet to see what that could include, for thirty dollars. The fact that users who already own Batman: The Telltale Series can add Shadows Mode as standalone downloadable content for 5 dollars, is a cash grab. Especially how this game was free even on PlayStation Plus and could be a free mod…
