„Electronic Arts Now Feels Like A Different Company!”

No, it’s not a quote that didn’t get published since April 1 – it’s been said by one of the general managers of Electronic Arts‘ studios this week!

The person whose quote was used in the title is Patrick Klaus, who formerly was a higher-up at Ubisoft (he worked on several Assassin’s Creed titles, such as IV: Black Flag, Unity, and Odyssey), and now, he’s the general manager of Electronic Arts’ Motive studio. Motive was founded by Jade Raymond in 2015 (she previously worked at Ubisoft – what a small world… -, playing a pivotal role in laying the foundation of the Assassin’s Creed series), but she departed in October 2018, and currently, she is the head of Google Stadia’s Stadia Games & Entertainment studio, which will work on exclusive titles for the service. Motive’s work was seen in just one game until now: they worked on the single-player campaign in one of the biggest 2017 loot box scandal games, namely Star Wars: Battlefront II…

„[Electronic Arts] feels like a different company, a company that’s very much focused on quality. It’s part of the reason that got me excited about coming back [he previously worked at EA – the ed.], really the number one priority is that we want to make great games, and Electronic Arts’ execs are empowering Montreal with the amount of talent we have in the studio to play a big part in making some awesome games for EA. It’s different times, a different leadership, a different message. And it’s reinforced every day in the messages and discussions we have. It feels like that’s the absolute priority,” Klaus told in an interview with Gamesindustry.

That’s probably the joke of the year, as Anthem, which came out in February, was anything but a quality title in its initial form. Meanwhile, Motive, which was formed to work on action/adventure titles, has been working on a new IP for years, as well as a „very unique Star Wars experience,” which isn’t the EA Vancouver-salvaged, single-player-turned-live service project taken from Visceral, as according to Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, that game has been killed.

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
