Sony is more and more of a funny situation due to its continuous leaks about PlayStation 5.
Once upon a time, there was a Reddit post, which might have revealed the user interface of the PlayStation 5 devkit. (It could be a hoax, too, who knows?) It looks quite similar to what the PlayStation 4 has. It’s not a problem: if it isn’t broke, there’s no reason to fix it. The main menu points in the big squares and each have a submenu under them. You can quickly recognise it.
There’s something else in the top left corner. No, we’re not talking about the censorship (the leaker has to hide their identity after all…) Instead, take a look at the free space text: 891 GB out of 1012. It means the PlayStation 5’s devkit has a 1 TB SSD. If the retail console will go with that size, we’ll enjoy that.
In case that isn’t enough, there’s something else in the menu. Next to the TTE, we see the Decima Engine logo. It was used in the past by Horizon Zero Dawn (which is likely going to continue – perhaps this could be the game on the devkit’s SSD?), and Kojima Productions also used it for Death Stranding. (The engine was made by Guerrilla!)
Recently, we have seen the PlayStation 5’s devkit on custom 3D renders and even real photos. Some of which even showed the DualShock 5 (although Sony hasn’t named the next-gen controller as such yet). Now we see the UI, too! It’s some harsh leaking – something that we haven’t seen with Microsoft. They are tight-lipped, and with success.
The PlayStation 5’s reveal event is rumoured to happen in February in San Francisco. Several higher-ups have been located in the region.
