New, Serious Rumours About The PlayStation 5?

The rumours around Sony‘s new console, PlayStation 5, are unstoppable.

Yesterday, we looked around Sony in detail after them announcing their no-show at E3 this year and that many bigwigs of Sony have shown up around San Francisco (and Sony Interactive Entertainment’s HQ is near that city). Now, more rumours have popped up on 4chan, and we took them from Playfront, a German website. Attention: none of the following information is confirmed, so please take them with a grain of salt!

The PlayStation 5 will have complete backwards compatibility, meaning all four PlayStation generations will be supported. Therefore, the PlayStation 5 might follow the example of the Xbox (Series X). The PlayStation 5 will also support the PlayStation VR headset, the DualShock 4 controller, and the PlayStation Move controller, too. But what about the rumours of the next-gen PlayStation VR then?

The post says these games will be amongst the launch titles of the PlayStation 5: Gran Turismo 7 (Polyphony Digital), MLB The Show 21 (SIE San Diego, it is going to go multiplatform), Demon Souls Remastered (Bluepoint Games?), Godfall (Gearbox Software) and Legendz (a new IP from the makers of 2018’s God of War, SIE Santa Monica). These don’t sound too farfetched… but what else can come later? Horizon Zero Dawn 2 (Guerilla Games), Spider-Man 2? (Insomniac Games, we added the numbering to it), a new Crash Bandicoot (maybe Vicarious Visions?), a new sci-fi IP by Naughty Dog, Resident Evil 8 (we intentionally added the number to it, as we heard multiple rumours about Capcom doing it), and Final Fantasy XVI (Square Enix).

The PlayStation 5 could launch in October for 450 euros (in Europe; 450 USD in the US then), and Sony hasn’t decided about a Pro model yet. The post says that during the February PlayStation Meeting (look, ANOTHER rumour talking about it…), we’ll see clips of many games.

We’ll see how much of it is true.
