The PlayStation 5 Is Faster Than The Xbox Series X… For Now

The new rumours say that by the time the two next-gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X launch, they will have a similar performance.

„At the beginning of the year[, the] PlayStation 5 was still the one that offered the best performance. I don’t know if that has changed with the new devkits, I don’t have access to that information at this time, and personally, I think that (theoretically) I won’t have physical access until early summer, for my part,” BGs, a verified industry insider, wrote on the NeoGAF forums.

„This generation will not be the generation of the visual difference that makes you decide what to buy. It will be the generation of games. Yes, one will be faster than another (but you will not notice it in practice). One will load the screen in 10 seconds and the other in 7 seconds. One will have a better sound than the other. One will run the game at 60fps and the other … too. What will really matter will be the quality that development studies can achieve with their time and budget,” he added in another post. He also said that we should pay attention to the new PlayStation VR model. Unfortunately, he did not go into further details.

So it seems that the power difference between the Sony and the Microsoft console is about to disappear, but we have yet to see what the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X have as unique functions. The PS5 could be properly revealed by Sony this month (the PlayStation 4 went down the same route in 2013 before the November launch), and Xbox Series X could be seen either in May (as the Xbox One nearly seven years ago), or at E3.

Both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X will launch this Holiday season. Regarding the new PlayStation VR, we have also heard it could launch along with the PS5, too.
