Call Of Duty Warzone: Better Figures Than The Rivals Out Of The Box

The free-to-play battle royale Call of Duty Warzone had a better launch than Fortnite or Apex Legends.

„What a day! 24 hours in and over 6 million of you have dropped into Warzone. Thank you – we’re just getting started,”

we see on Twitter. So Warzone got more than six million players in its first day, which is an incredible result. It’s underlined by what Daniel Ahmad, the senior analyst at Niko Partners, wrote.

He said that Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale that launched in February 2019 got 2.5 million players in its first 24 hours, and with it, Apex Legends has surpassed what Fortnite Battle Royale had (as Tim Sweeney’s game had a little over a million players). So Call of Duty’s new spin-off had more than twice as many players out of the box than what Apex Legends showed a year ago.

Call of Duty Warzone is free-to-play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but if you don’t have last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, expect a significant download: depending on the platform, you might see an 80-100 GB download. If you have the game, you’ll get away with about 20 gigs to download.

„Call of Duty remains one of the most successful entertainment franchises of all time. With Warzone we are allowing players across the world to experience the fun of Call of Duty for free,”

said Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard Chief Executive Officer. „Warzone is more than a new era for Call of Duty, it’s a game-changer for players and fans. We’re delivering two incredible modes of play within this massive world that take the experience to a new level. The teams at Infinity Ward and Raven Software have created an amazing, free-to-play experience that’s accessible to all to jump in right away and have a blast. There’s a ton of content plans and live events to come that will continue to keep fans guessing and ready to experience new thrills,” said Byron Beede, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Call of Duty.

Yeah, yeah, but can the game SUSTAIN the player base? It is more important than the launch numbers.
