Fast & Furious Crossroads: 2006-Like Gameplay, New Release Date [VIDEO]

We still can’t believe that this game is being developed by Slightly Mad Studios. The team, which was recently acquired by Codemasters, responsible for Project CARS

Bandai Namco and Slightly Mad Studios announced when the new Fast & Furious video game is coming, but we still can’t get over how Fast & Furious Crossroads looks. Sure, graphics don’t define a game, but it looks a good two console generations behind the norm nowadays. The „high-speed vehicular stunts and heists, gadgets, locations, cars, and heroes from the films” feel like an early (!) PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 title and not a late-gen PlayStation 4/Xbox One game!

The Internet’s opinion is not that positive, either. The official video, embedded below (showcasing some portions of the story mode), has its comments and ratings disabled! However, Bandai Namco’s American YouTube account also has the video posted, and at the time of writing, it has 22244 views, 527 likes, and 669 dislikes. In one day, that is a weak result, especially on an account that has 727K subscribers. Let’s quote a few of the top comments: „Call of Duty: Asphalt,”  „Why does the UI and the graphics look like a mobile game?”, „This game is pushing the boundaries of the PlayStation 3 graphics,” „Wow, the graphics put the PlayStation 2 system to its limits,” „What is this voice acting? LMAO!” – that should be enough, but we’ll answer the last question: the actors from the previous films (Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, also Sonequa Martin-Green and Asia Kate Dillon) reprise their respective roles. Perhaps this is where most of the budget was blown…?

Fast & Furious Crossroads was planned to launch in May before the coronavirus global pandemic swiped the plans away. Instead, the game is now coming on August 7 (while the newest Fast & Furious film, F9, is delayed to April 2021), and no matter how hard it is to believe it, it’s coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. But why does it feel like a Spy Hunter game?
