Here’s Dead Island 2 From 2015: Yager’s Early Build Leaked! [VIDEO]

We can see Dead Island 2 in video format, although in a previous developer’s vision – it’s your typical what if…? story.

Dead Island 2 is slowly becoming an unwanted person in the family: nobody wants to deal with it. It was first developed by Techland (who then moved on to make the spiritual successor at Warner in the shape of Dying Light, whose sequel might arrive shortly…), then the German Yager took over (previously responsible for Spec Ops: The Line, but they fell out with Deep Silver, the publisher, as their „respective visions of the project fell out of alignment”), followed by Sumo Digital, who also couldn’t finish the game (they recently flopped with Crackdown 3), and now, Deep Silver’s internal studio, Dambuster is working on it (they previously finished Homefront: The Revolution). This whole scenario could be made into a documentary – NoClip should get on it…

Now, we can see Yager’s idea in video format. A playable leak, dated June 19, 2015, has been leaked. In the videos below, we can see this incomplete build in action, showing what the team wanted to do (they are now developing The Cycle, a free-to-play multiplayer shooter, which was moved from Steam to the Epic Games Store before its public release). The Dead Island sequel felt a bit like Dead Island Riptide due to the cel-shaded visuals.

Weapons that cause fire and electrical damage, skill trees, crafting – everything is present, and if you are unprepared, the zombies would be a tough nut to crack. The first-person perspective changes to third-person when you drive a car, which is common in many games.

Sadly, the eight-player multiplayer or the story can’t be experienced in this build. Dead Island 2 is still in development, and we don’t even want to guess when we can get a copy of the game. And we’re not going to tell you where to find the leaked build, as Deep Silver would sue us to oblivion.
