The job of female streamers is not easy, a lot of breast flashes gives birth to a lot of nasty comments – in fact, sometimes the end result is downright harassment…
Did you think there is a game that will address this sensitive topic? Well, it seems so, and that is an old-fashioned interactive FMV video game, where the makers wanted to draw attention to that problem… Supposedly. Eventually, they had to remove the game trailer because of the criticisms it create.
Many people had trouble with the approach, that the makers wanted to take advantage of an existing problem.
A couple of days ago, a live-action video game was announced in which we could find out how much harassment streamer girls are exposed to and how much a moderator has to do during a broadcast because of offensive or inappropriate comments. After the video was posted, the game Gamer Girl was picked up by gamers who disagreed with the implementation of the Wales Interactive game. The team is also working on another game called Headspun, by the way.
The studio eventually removed its trailer, but defended the “game,” saying it wanted to reflect on a problem, not make money out of it.
“We think it’s a game that is absolutely necessary.” wrote Wales Interactive.
By the way, the stuff follows a content creator in their daily work and shows how the girl’s skills develop over time. The goal is for Abi to remain successful in the midst of accusations, insults and harassment. The story eventually begins to focus on an anonymous figure who becomes obsessed with our heroine and stalks her.
Not to mention that the game sells out the trauma that many topless, breast-flashing streamer girls experience while someone else plays for them, and they mow millions, but on top of that, Abi was created with provocative intent based on streamer stereotypes in the game, which has been criticized by many, too. In reality, streamers are not at all like that as we know, many say…
Wales Interactive has remained true to its philosophy throughout:
“Online harassment and abuse is a real problem and it happens every day, our game is trying to draw attention to this problem – we think it’s a game that is absolutely necessary.”
Well, the Welsh team, which boasted the successful The Bunker FMV game in the past, seems to have closed the debate on its part: they plan to release the game, which is already stirring up a lot of dust, in September on PC via Steam, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Now come the shocking trailer of the game, which was rescued by a few users from the Internet’s dark pit before it was finally deleted…
