Final Fantasy VII Remake: „The New World Has Only Just Begun”

The producer of Final Fantasy VII Remake (Part 1…) provided an end-of-the-year message, and he highly anticipates 2021.

A Japanese publication, Famitsu, released an article, in which a total of 110 Japanese developers shared their ambitions for the next year. We’ll point one of them out, namely Yoshinori Kitase, who happens to be the producer of Final Fantasy VII Remake (Part 1) that released this Spring, exclusively on PlayStation 4. His comments were translated on Twitter.

His keyword for 2021 is „The story will be connected…”, which is a sentence, not a word. Then, his aspirations for 2021 are the following: „The long-awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake was finally released in 2020. The new world of Final Fantasy VII has only just begun. My aspirations, not just in 2021 but beyond, will be how the story will broaden from here on out. It’s so exciting that I can’t even imagine what it will be like. Please look forward to it!” And finally, his latest information about the game: „[The] development for Final Fantasy VII [Remake] is progressing smoothly. However, please wait a bit longer for more details.”

Kitase recently appeared with Cloud’s Buster Sword when Final Fantasy VII Remake won its Grand Award at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2020 Japan Asia. Square Enix also announced that the remake shipped over five million copies worldwide, digitally and physically. It also became the highest-selling digital game Square Enix ever developed on a PlayStation platform. However, the growth of the gaming industry also brings more sales, which is why even part one of the remake can outsell the original that quickly became one of the killer apps of the PS1 in 1997.

Final Fantasy VII Remake won’t launch on other platforms before April, as that’s when the PlayStation 4-exclusivity will end.
