Age of Empires: coming to mobile and the new tralier!

Age of Empires: Return to Empire will be released in China for the first time and is the result of an agreement between TiMi Studios and Xbox. We show you what the RTS from the makers of Call of Duty Mobile looks like!

Back in May, we reported that Xbox had joined forces with Tencent TiMi Studios to develop new experiences for gamers. Now we know that the first project to result from this deal is a mobile adaptation of Age of Empires.

The details surrounding the game are still rather sketchy, but they come from Daniel Ahmad, a well-known industry analyst in the Asian market. What we do know is that the game is called Return to Empire and that it will be launched in China alone for the time being.

Daniel Ahmad has also shared a video in which we can see that the game will have a rather unique character compared to the rest of the series. As he explained, the RTS will keep the basic mechanics of the franchise, with content that mixes Western and Asian civilizations. Based on the footage shared, mass battles can be expected within the game.

According to the analyst, this is just the first of several other collaborations, so it’s possible that more of Microsoft’s mobile IP will be released in China.

The other Age of Empires games

Fans of the series will of course turn their attention to Age of Empires IV, which arrives this fall for PC and Xbox Game Pass, and promises to bring back what has worked for decades in the series, but with a number of innovations that will overall allow users to expand their empires as far as the eye can see.

Finally, this week, The Forgotten Empires released the second expansion for Age of Empires II: The Definitive Edition with Polish and Bohemian.
