Naughty Dog Might Be Developing A New Uncharted

One of the essential studios of Sony Interactive Entertainment sees that there is still interest in the two franchises, Uncharted and The Last of Us the studio has been working on in the past decade.

Evan Wells and Neil Druckmann, the co-presidents of Naughty Dog, were interviewed by Game Informer. Wells said that they still see story-driven single-player games work in the future: “It’s sort of in our DNA to tell these stories. I think that’s going to continue. Single-player experiences are near and dear to us. It’s what has attracted a lot of people to Naughty Dog, and that’s what inspires them, so I think we’re going to keep at it as long as we can.”

“There has never been a mandate [from Sony] like, ‘Oh, this is where we see the winds shifting. Can you start making these kinds of games instead?’ We know just as they know that when you work on something you’re excited by, something you’re passionate about, you’re going to do great work,” Druckmann added. Sony isn’t putting pressure on them to do something unusual. However, let’s not forget the first significant Naughty Dog game on PlayStation. It was Crash Bandicoot… a single-player PLATFORMER! It didn’t focus much on the story, but it was a technological marvel to work on Sony’s console the way it did!

“I think there’s excitement to develop new IP, but there is still a ton of love for Uncharted and The Last of Us, and I think you’ll see both kinds of projects from us in the future,” Wells added. They are rumoured to work on a standalone Factions mode for The Last of Us, as we discussed before. Thus, Uncharted might be getting a new title in the series.

However, there’s also the possibility of Jak & Daxter. If Insomniac Games went back to Ratchet & Clank, let’s not rule this option out either!

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
