It doesn’t mean that the first main games in the series (as well “4.5”, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, the standalone DLC) would be immediately available on the two new platforms.
Previously, we wrote in a rumour level (albeit if Sony itself was the one to reveal that Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy is getting a PC version, it’s not a rumour) that Naughty Dog’s IP could be heading to the PC. Now, it will happen via Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, but the word collection doesn’t mean what you’d first think. No, it won’t include all four mainline Uncharted games (even though the demand would be there for them, and no, playing them via PlayStation Now is not the answer…). The second game in the package is Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. What a shame.
Here’s what Sony Interactive Entertainment and Naughty Dog wrote on the PlayStation Blog: “This brand-new remastered bundle includes Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, featuring Nathan Drake as he hunts for Captain Avery’s long-lost treasure, setting off for one final far-flung adventure across the jungles of Madagascar to the long lost pirate colony of Libertalia. It also includes Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which chronicles Chloe Frazer’s breakout exploits as she moves from frenemy to hero—enlisting the assistance of renowned mercenary Nadine Ross, Chloe ventures to India’s Western Ghats to locate the Golden Tusk of Ganesh.
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will be available in early 2022 for PlayStation 5. The PC version is in development by our partners at Iron Galaxy and will release shortly after the PlayStation 5 version. As these dates approach, we’ll discuss more details. We’re pretty excited that more players will get the chance to meet (and fall in love with) Nathan, Chloe, Nadine, and the rest of the cast in the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection,” the post reads.
It’s possibly nothing more than a cash-in attempt, as the Uncharted film also premieres early next year. We wonder what Sony meant under “shortly after” for the PC users. The previous two games that got ported to PC (Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone) needed years after the PlayStation 4 launch.
