Resident Evil 4 VR: Coming to Oculus Quest 2 for Halloween

Capcom, Oculus VR, and Armature are rewriting the Resident Evil exclusive remaster for the helmet. We’ll be scratching our heads!

If you’re already wondering how you’ll spend Halloween, we’ve got a plan for you. Available to buy on 21 October this year, Resident Evil 4 VR, the Oculus Quest 2 adaptation of the fourth instalment in Capcom‘s horror saga, will guarantee you’ll experience the story from a new perspective.

“Be scared like never before. Play Resident Evil 4 from an eerie new perspective in virtual reality and immerse yourself in your innermost fears. You won’t be able to blink,” reads the Oculus VR website, which also shared a short video with the new release date.

The survival horror has been remastered for the occasion by Armature on behalf of Capcom, respecting the essence of the original release but adapting the controls to those of the Oculus Quest 2, with over 4,500 repainted textures, higher resolution, better animations, a reworked soundtrack to suit the occasion and a higher frame rate per second.

It is currently unknown if it will be coming to other virtual reality devices such as PlayStation VR, Valve Index, etc., in the coming months or years. There’s also no indication if there will be a new remake of the fourth numbered instalment of Resident Evil following the successful commercial performance that Capcom is giving these works. However, rumours of a possible development have started as early as 2020.
