Gavankar has a long history in the film, television and video game industries. From Far Cry 4 and Borderlands to Horizon: Zero Dawn and smaller titles such as Afterparty, the artist will be one of the many personalities we meet in this ambitious project led by Amy Hennig.

What do we know about Amy Hennig’s new Marvel video game?

The video game led by Amy Hennig, creative director and writer of the original Uncharted trilogy for PS3, became official just a few days ago and promises to be “a narrative-driven blockbuster with action and adventure elements and a completely original story. based on the Marvel universe”. This will be Skydance New Media’s first AAA title after being the editor on titles like The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. We first heard about Hennig’s plans at Skydance Media back in November 2019.

Aside from the veteran, in this upcoming video game based on the Marvel universe is Julian Beak, a former producer at Electronic Arts with experience in AAA action-adventure titles. Hennig herself confirmed last May that she was immersed in the development of a title based on narrative, action and adventure.

It may be the project you always wanted to do and ultimately couldn’t at Visceral Games, Electronic Arts; that Star Wars project that, after a long development period, was eventually cancelled. The game will use the Unreal Engine because they are looking for experts in Epic Games’ graphics engine in the job postings.

As for the protagonist superhero(s) of the work, fans speculate with several names, although none of them is confirmed. Daredevil, X-Men … Soon, we will leave doubts.

The title has no confirmed release date or platforms at the moment, and we only know that it will be released on “traditional platforms”.

Gavankar is known for many TV series, including his role as Luna Garza on HBO’s True Blood. However, she is no stranger to video games. She entered the industry as the voice of Amita in 2014’s Far Cry 4 and then worked on Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds (as the voice of Tatai). Her most notable gaming role was Iden Versio in Star Wars Battlefront II. He is currently working on the Borderlands movie (Commander Knox) and lending his voice to the PlayStation 5 console-exclusive Forspoken (Tanta Sila), also written by Amy Hennig.

Neither Marvel nor Skydance shared any details about the upcoming game beyond the announcement. Skydance said it had hired industry veterans with decades of AAA development experience to create the narrative-driven adventure.

“Amy has been setting the standard for narrative adventure games for decades, and we’re thrilled to be working with the talented and experienced New Media team at Skydance,” said Jay Ong, executive vice president and general manager of Marvel Games. “From our first meeting, their ambition and vision to create innovative entertainment using Marvel IP were evident. We are excited to share even more with Marvel fans when the time is right.”
