Is Grand Theft Auto IV Getting A Remaster, Too?

It’s getting rather funny: Rockstar Games should be working on Grand Theft Auto VI, but instead, we hear rumours that the Take-Two team will revisit another earlier instalment.

RalphsValve, who has been running a story on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (we’re not talking about 2009’s CoD: MW2, but the 2022 instalment, which Activision Blizzard hasn’t announced yet!), has hinted on Twitter that Grand Theft Auto IV could be going through a revamp. This remastered version would be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (most likely as a Rockstar Games Launcher exclusive…), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and would include the Episodes from Liberty City add-on, but multiplayer would not be part of the package.

Grand Theft Auto IV Remastered would thus celebrate its fifteenth anniversary, was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in April 2008, followed by PC port in December. Time has indeed passed since then, and since RalphsValve’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II leaks have been corroborated by more reliable sources, this time it doesn’t seem to be fiction either, especially when you consider that tomorrow will see the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, which includes the three games that preceded GTA IV, Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Here’s Grand Theft Auto IV’s synopsis: “Niko Bellic, Johnny Klebitz, and Luis Lopez all have one thing in common – they live in the worst city in America. Liberty City worships money and status and is heaven for those who have them and a living nightmare for those who don’t. Niko is looking to escape his past and make a new life for himself in the land of opportunity. Johnny, a veteran member of The Lost biker gang, is caught in the middle of a vicious turf war with rival gangs to control the city. Luis, part-time hoodlum and full-time assistant to legendary nightclub impresario Tony Prince (a.k.a. “Gay Tony”), is struggling with the competing loyalties of family and friends in a world where everyone has a price. Their lives cross paths with devastating consequences as they fight to survive in a city torn apart by violence and corruption.”

It’s not official yet, but we might bet some money on it happening…
