Wales Interactive has given us a sneak peek of its new horror game and has announced when we can expect Sker Ritual and what platforms it will be coming to.
Last year, Sker Ritual developer Wales Interactive brought us an intriguing survival horror based on actual events, Maid of Sker, which drew on elements of Welsh folklore to transport us to a remote hotel where terrible things happened in the past. The game rewarded players for their stealth and cunning in solving tasks.
This time, the developer has surprised us by announcing the spiritual successor to Maid of Sker, which also uses terror, but in the form of a cooperative action FPS for up to four players. Players will use all manner of weapons to fight their way through hordes of enemies and survive supernatural attacks from the “Quiet Ones”.
Although the teaser only shows a few seconds of gameplay, we can see dark dungeons and wicked enemies worshipping evil deities. The ominous rural setting seems spot on, as does the appearance of steampunk-style weapons and accessories.
Sker Ritual is all about furious action, where we must take down a multitude of enemies with the help of our allies, which is very different from the survival horror approach of Wales Interactive’s previous projects. While there’s not much information on the game yet, it’s scheduled to arrive on Steam in Q2 2022, although as Gematsu reported, the developers are also planning PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions to follow the PC version.
