The Studio Responsible For Gotham Knights Is Working On A Secret Project

Warner Bros. Games Montreal (who last released Batman: Arkham Origins a whole console generation ago…) is already working on a game that will come after Gotham Knights.

It’s understandable since we’ve already rumoured that Gotham Knights could be released in the spring (on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One), so the studio in the capital of Quebec (we’ll shorten their name to WBGM onwards) has the resources to launch its next game’s development. (And Montreal is a pretty serious North American developer environment; virtually every prominent name has an office there.)

On LinkedIn, there’s a surprise in one of the studio’s artists, Megan Berr’s profile. (This is not the fifth major Batman Arkham game we covered earlier because WBGM worked on that one before!) She’s been a senior artist on the team for four years now, and she’s been in that role on Gotham Knights. That’s fine so far, but then we read that between September 2019 and June this year, Berr was a co-founder and an art director on an unannounced project.

That game is NOT tied to the Suicide Squad IP (as DC will see Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League from Rocksteady), so presumably, we should be looking towards another comic book DC IP. It won’t be a massive surprise if WBGM is (has been?) planning something for Superman, especially since several Warner studios are up to their necks in DC content (and therefore NetherRealm Studios could be working on Injustice 3), and we haven’t seen much of a video game adaptation of Clark Kent lately. (Superman could use some attention, and we’re not talking about Kryptonite. Then we would have used quotation marks…)

And no, MultiVersus, rumoured for some time and announced last week (and discussed before), doesn’t count…
