The creators Of Life Is Strange Announce Gerda: A Flame In Winter [VIDEO]

Dontnod makes its publishing debut with Gerda: A Flame In Winter

Two generations ago, Life is Strange managed to captivate gamers with a proposition that became popular over time. Since then, Dontnod has grown a lot, thanks in large part to Tencent’s investment in its capital, and this has allowed them to begin to act as a publisher, publishing its own games and those of other studios.

This is the case of Gerda: A Flame in Winter, the first external title published by the French company and developed by PortaPlay. It was announced during the Indie World that Nintendo shared earlier this week, showing us a trailer for what it describes as an intimate narrative adventure with RPG touches.

It takes place during World War II, in the midst of the German invasion of Denmark. It is inspired by real events and puts us in the shoes of Gerda, a nurse whose life becomes complicated overnight. Armed only with her wits and the knowledge of her community, she must try to save her loved ones while remaining true to herself.

Decisions are made through a combination of exploration, dialogue and management of resources and relationships. Gerda’s personality traits are her skills, and her connection with others will determine how the poignant story she sets before us unfolds.

Gerda: A Flame in Winter is coming to PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch in 2022, with no specific date set in the calendar yet. Dontnod is securing a release that reaffirms its desire to remain independent, as well as continue on the right track with its best-known franchise, which will be getting the Life is Strange Remastered Collection in just a couple of months.
