They apologise to the Kickstarter backers, but in the current situation, they cannot guarantee a delivery date
Panda Hardware yesterday ended the crowdfunding campaign for The Panda Controller, a modern revision of the GameCube controller compatible with PC and Nintendo Switch that had become one of the platform’s biggest hits in 2021, with nearly 15,000 backers and €1.7 million raised.
Those responsible have apologised in a statement for the inconvenience caused, explaining the reasons that led them to suspend funding for the project. Apparently, Panda’s manufacturing partner in China is currently suffering “continuous power outages”, which, together with the other problems caused by the pandemic and the global supply crisis, make it unfeasible to secure a distribution date for the controller.
An important and unfortunate update on the Panda Controller Kickstarter. But we’re still very excited for the future.

“After a lot of deliberation, we felt it wasn’t right of us to hold onto your funds for an unknown amount of time without being able to guarantee when delivery will be”, the message continues. “We know how disappointing this is for many of you. We can’t thank you enough for the support you’ve given us to help make our dreams a reality,” it concludes.
However, Panda Hardware will be looking for external investors following the Kickstarter campaign’s success, so it seems like it’s goodbye.
The Panda Controller launched its campaign a few weeks ago, offering a customisable controller compatible with PC, Switch, GameCube, Wii and Wii U, which among its improvements included deeply customisable triggers USB-C cable, detachable and customisable magnetised cases or additional buttons. Definitely, an alternative to consider for Super Smash Bros. users.
