PlayStation Plus: The First 2022 Line-Up Is Now Official

It’s the home stretch of the year for PlayStation Plus: we’re about to leave 2021 behind us, and Sony is looking ahead to 2022 with the announcement of the games that PlayStation 5 and/or PlayStation 4 owners will receive in exchange for the privilege of unlimited online multiplayer….

A few days ago, we wrote how a French website, Dealabs, has once again unveiled the alleged January games. It’s been a reliable source for the past few months. At the time, the post wrote that only one game would be PlayStation 4-only (Persona 5 Strikers), but the PlayStation 5 owners will receive two titles (getting both the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 4 version of them, if we can believe the rumour). One of them will be Deep Rock Galactic, while the other title is DIRT 5. So, let’s ask the common question: did Sony manage to change the leaked list for once, or will the PlayStation Plus subscribers indeed get the previous three games?

The answer is YES. Once again, the leak was right on the money all along. So we’re going to get Deep Rock Galactic (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), DIRT 5 (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), and Persona 5 Strikers (PlayStation 4). That’s it. No extra PlayStation VR games (so it was a short-lived extra, what a shame), nothing additional on top of the three games. The subscribers perhaps deserve more.

You have a few days to catch up with the December games until then. As a reminder, here’s what you missed: Godfall: Challenger Edition (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, it is not the whole game!); Lego DC Super-Villains (PlayStation 4), Mortal Shell (PlayStation 4); and from the November games, you have three PlayStation VR leftovers, but to play with these titles, you must have one of the now outdated virtual reality headsets (The Persistence; The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Standard Edition; Until You Fall).

So a JRPG, a rally game, and an FPS await the subscribers in January. At least there is some variety in the genres.
