A Third Sonic the Hedgehog Movie and a Paramount+ Live-Action Series Both Announced

MOVIE NEWS – The live-action series will star Knuckles and will be released in 2023, with a release date for the third Sonic the Hedgehog movie still unknown.

 

A third Sonic the Hedgehog movie and a live-action Sonic the Hedgehog series are in development for Paramount+, SEGA and Paramount announced.

“We are pleased to announce that a third Sonic the Hedgehog movie and the first live-action Sonic series are actively in development for Paramount+,” said Haruki Satomi, CEO of SEGA Corporation, in a statement. “We have formed a remarkable partnership with Paramount and are excited to continue expanding the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise with them.”

Haruki continued, “2022 is shaping up to be a significant year for the franchise, with the second movie hitting theaters this April and the release of Sonic Frontiers, the highly anticipated video game title, during the holiday season. Sonic has been loved by fans around the world for over 30 years and we look forward to providing them with many more memorable moments and experiences for many years to come.”

The live-action series will also feature Knuckles, who will make his debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, due out April 8, with Idris Elba reprising his role. The premiere is scheduled for 2023.
