MOVIE NEWS – Mission: Impossible 7 will reportedly have a cliffhanger ending since Tom Cruise plans on making the 8th film as the final one. However, he also causes some difficulties for Paramount with his demand to have a 90 days release window for both films.
It is almost certain now that Mission: Impossible 7 will not close the franchise but end with a great cliffhanger. Tom Cruise, who has a major role in the film’s production, plans on making the 8th instalment for the series as the final Mission: Impossible episode. Cruise has had a significant role in the history of Mission: Impossible since the first film came out in 1996. The first instalments of the franchise weren’t such a big success; however, after Mission: Impossible 4, it gained great popularity. Now fans expect a billion-dollar blockbuster finale. There has been a delay due to the covid pandemic in the release of these two films; therefore, they’ll supposedly be released in 2023 and 2024.
On the other hand, there are some problems with the ideas around the franchise’s ending. Tom Cruise insists that the 7th instalment should end with a cliffhanger to make an 8th. Therefore, the majority of the content is still very fluid since Cruise will adjust the ending of Mission: Impossible 7 to the story of the next film. As the 8th instalment is not done yet, this situation gives a tough time to Paramount. He plans on creating the most action-packed films of the entire franchise; however, there are a lot of difficulties between him and the studio due to the release windows for the two films. He demands the release window to be the pre-covid 90 days, while the studio would want to have the 45 days release window.
The studio isn’t fond of Cruise’s idea; however, they admit that the actor demands the 90 days release window for the sake of perfecting the film:
“It’s not always in the best interest of the budget, but he is incredibly detailed and willing to put in an enormous amount of time and effort on every aspect,” says a source on M:I 7. “The guy does give every ounce of his being to this endeavor,” confirms another.
Mission: Impossible 7 has already hit a $290 million budget, and the film is still unfinished as its release is delayed for the third time. Cruise tries to persuade the studio that it is worth spending more money and time on the 7th instalment since the franchise is stronger and more popular than ever. Besides that, Cruise could use his contract against the studio’s plans; therefore, it seems that Paramount will oblige to Tom Cruise’s expectations. As a veteran of Tom Cruise films puts it:
“Tom says what he wants and the studio says what it wants. And then Tom gets what he asked for.”
