God of War Ragnarok producer Cory Barlog is back after a long Twitter hiatus, so surprised was he by the latest post from God of War creator David Jaffe.
God of War Ragnarok has been at the centre of many rumours about a possible release date. Former God of War and Twisted Metal director David Jaffe took to Twitter to share his own opinion on the game’s status, prompting a response from the returning producer.
David Jaffe has reportedly reached out to insider sources at Sony, who claim that the release date for God of War Ragnarok is no longer set in stone for 2022.
Due to the size and scope of God of War Ragnarok, Sony has confirmed that the game will mark the end of the Norse saga. News coming directly from PlayStation ceased until a May update revealed the game’s new accessibility features. These accessibility features will allow more players worldwide to participate in Kratos’ next journey.
In the tweet, Jaffe states that a release date has yet to be determined and believes a 2022 release is “50/50 at this point”. The tweet received a short, witty response from God of War Ragnarok producer Cory Barlog, who is making his long-awaited return to the social media platform. Barlog tweeted Jaffe with a “wait, what?” quote, then showed a GIF of Kratos from God of War, followed by a GIF of actor Ryan Reynolds flashing his emblematically sly expression.
Barlog’s tweet sparked a massive debate within the PlayStation and God of War community and sparked confidence in a release of God of War Ragnarok before the end of 2022.
While Barlog did not reconfirm the release window within the tweet, he seems to be making a joke out of the constant rumours of the game slipping to 2023. The God of War Ragnarok rumours are likely to continue for quite some time, but Barlog’s return to Twitter could mean that news about God of War’s upcoming title could be coming soon.
Barlog’s tweet seems to be a much-needed reassurance to the community, as the producer is a respected figure. Many have praised the time and effort he put into God of War and are eager to experience God of War Ragnarok for themselves.
A November 2022 release date for the game continues to be suggested, but this has not been confirmed directly by PlayStation. Sooner or later, of course, PlayStation will be forced to share more news about the highly anticipated title, including the all-important release date.
