Marvel’s Avengers Adds New Playable Superhero To The Game!

The latest update to Marvel’s Avengers adds The Mighty Thor to the team, as well as several gameplay improvements and changes.

In the latest update to Marvel’s Avengers, it’s Jane Foster who takes the spotlight as The Mighty Thor joins the team, along with some fresh patches and other additions and changes.

Marvel’s Avengers follows Kamala Khan in the aftermath of the A-Day terrorist attack that celebrated the titular team and forced them to disband. Khan is forced to seek out the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow and Captain America after she realises the attack has given her powers, and she finds herself in the crosshairs of Advanced Idea Mechanics, better known as AIM.

In the updates so far, famous heroes Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, Black Panther and Spider-Man have joined the team to stop AIM’s machinations.

As mentioned, with the release of Patch v2.5, The Mighty Thor will be the team’s newest member, just in time for Jane Foster’s Marvel Cinematic Universe return in Thor: Love and Thunder. He will have his own unique mission chain and a new Hero Challenge Card, which he will be able to complete just like previous characters. A new cosmetic kit is also available, allowing players to customise The Mighty Thor to their liking.

The Marvel’s Avengers v2.5 patch pack also brings a host of improvements, most of which focus on the game’s campaign and end-game activities. These include fixes to NPC and enemy spawn points, mission-related bugs, and perhaps most notably, a fix to a bug that gave extra faction fame that pushed players over the level 50 limit and reset players who went over the limit.

The addition of The Mighty Thor also hints at the latest MCU premiere, opening the door for Crystal Dynamics to explore some possible narrative arcs in the future.

In the comics, Jane Foster’s Thor era is embodied by self-sacrifice because despite having the power of a god, Mjolnir is deemed worthy of fighting cancer, and using his powers only exacerbates his illness. The developers could explore this in a future narrative expansion of Avengers, in which he might join his comic book counterpart as a new Valkyrie.
