Does The Art Book Tell Us When Hogwarts Legacy Will Be Released?

An art book is being produced to accompany the game, and the details have recently been updated; the date doesn’t seem to be a coincidence…

We know now that Hogwarts Legacy, which is being made by Avalanche Software (not to be confused with Avalanche Studios in Sweden!), will be released by Warner sometime this year. Initially, it wasn’t the plan, as Warner’s Portkey Games branch was looking to release the open-world MMO based on J.K. Rowling’s work in 2021. We’re entering the final third of the year, but the Warner/Avalanche Software duo still hasn’t said when we could expect the game.

The art book, titled The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy: Exploring the Unwritten Wizarding World, first had a tentative placeholder release date, and they gave a December 31 release date for that reason. Only VGC has obtained some emails sent out by Amazon UK to pre-orderers. The company says that the release date has been changed to December 6, while the original listing, mentioned on Reddit, still only mentions 2022!

The art book release date doesn’t always match the game release date, but also on Reddit there’s a legitimate suggestion that Warner’s other game this year, Gotham Knights, will also receive an art book. It will arrive on the same day as the game so both products will be available from October 25. It is another reason to consider December 6, as it falls on a Tuesday, and the big games are often released on a Tuesday or Friday (God of War: Ragnarok will be an exception, but we’ve already explained why it was a Wednesday, and the release date was moved around, too…)

So, Portkey Games has a good chance of releasing Hogwarts Legacy for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on December 6, but it’s not official yet. Warner should show more of the game.
