MOVIE NEWS – The highly anticipated Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon, arrives on HBO this Sunday.

Fans have been waiting a long time for the inevitable Game of Thrones spinoff, as the series was first announced in 2019. The plot takes place two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones and follows the story of Daenerys Targaryen’s ancestors as they fight and bicker with each other before sparking a hilarious little civil war for the Iron Throne.

The debut season of House of the Dragon will consist of ten episodes; the series has just released the final trailer ahead of Sunday’s premiere.

Once again, more dragons will be seen in the series, with nine confirmed for the first season. They rain fire down on their enemies from above, which is in keeping with the trailer’s title, Fire Will Reign. You can watch the action-packed short trailer below.

“The road ahead is uncertain, but the end is clear.” Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) sums up perfectly what House of the Dragon will be like with the first sentence of the trailer. Fans who have watched Game of Thrones know what will eventually happen to the white-haired, legendary dynasty. However, the path to get there is yet to be revealed, and plenty of drama will come in the spinoff series. The House of the Dragon is, of course, based on George R. R. Martin’s novel Fire and Blood, which tells the story of Westeros and details the family history of the Targaryens. However, there may be a few surprises in store even if you happen to have read the book.
