MOVIE NEWS – Sandman author Neil Gaiman has roasted Elon Musk after someone asked for his opinion on the tycoon’s comments.
Ever since The Rings of Power debuted on Amazon Prime Video, Neil Gaiman has become one of the series’ biggest advocates on social media, and today he aimed at Elon Musk, who previously commented that J.R.R. Tolkien would be “rolling in his grave” if he could see Amazon’s epic series. After being asked what he thought of Musk’s comment, Gaiman sent a message to the businessman, referring to Twitter’s recently failed acquisition.
When asked what he thought of Musk’s comments, he replied:
“Elon Musk doesn’t come to me for advice on how to fail to buy Twitter, and I don’t go to him for film, TV or literature criticism.”
The Rings of Power arrived on Prime Video last week, and while critics have well received it, audiences have been considerably more divided. However, the series still debuted as the biggest premiere on Amazon Prime, with 25 million viewers tuning in on its first day, and there’s still a lot of hype around it, especially now that we know a second season is definitely on the way.
Despite all this, social media has become its own battleground, with supporters of the series clashing with those who want nothing more than to pull the production down in every way possible seemingly. While Neil Gaiman has no direct involvement with The Rings of Power, as a Tolkien lover and someone who has seen his own Sandman series come under similar fire, the author was happy to express his feelings about those who want to kill off the series after just two episodes.
