More details about the backstory of the now NetEase-owned Quantic Dream’s game…
VGC has reported about what Colin Moriarty said on the paywalled podcast Sacred Symbols. Star Wars: Eclipse was announced at last year’s The Game Awards and is reportedly still in the early stages of development: according to Moriarty, development itself hasn’t even started yet. (The question is, how long will Disney and LucasFilm Games look kindly on this…?) Then, there was some discussion about the documents they received. One of them was about one of the main characters in the game, and they mentioned the characters’ ambitions. David Cage and Adam Williams are co-writing the game; the latter is the lead writer of previous Quantic Dream titles.
“Materials seen by this podcast describe a so-called Project S, with a character named Sarah as the lead. Sarah is described as an athletic 30-something and is a member of a human-like race. This race is at the lead of some empire called The Zaraan, a race not seen in Star Wars before. It prides itself on political and military aggression, and similar to what you find elsewhere in Star Wars, there’s little differentiation between males and females regarding roles and responsibilities. But, there’s an interesting wrinkle when Zaraan marries; their nuptials carry interesting military implications as they become one governing unit that works together. This is a problem because Sarah, a passionate true believer in the violence and criminality regularly demonstrated by her empire, is married to a character named Xendo, who is a far softer touch. Part of the game seems to revolve around these two characters and their relationship,” VGC wrote.
The Empire may refer to something other than the Galatian Empire seen in the Skywalker era but the Zaraan faction. It’s worth pointing out that the story may not be retained in the game’s final version, as we haven’t heard anything official from Quantic Dream about it since the announcement of Star Wars: Eclipse.
So this is not official…
