It looks like Sony games are the frontrunners for the Golden Joystick Awards this year…

It’s not quite The Game Awards, but the Golden Joystick UK awards ceremony is something to look out for. This year, unsurprisingly, three PS5 and PS4 titles from PlayStation Studios have been nominated in the Game of the Year category. These are God of War: Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7, with games such as Elden Ring and Return to Monkey Island, also making the list of nominees.

The public will decide the winner; you can vote for your favourite game at the link below. Voting closes tonight, so make your choice sooner rather than later. There will also be several other prizes given out throughout the evening. For example, Horizon Forbidden West has been nominated for Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design and PlayStation Game of the Year. Other PlayStation Game of the Year titles selected includes Gran Turismo 7, Stray, Elden Ring, The Last of Us: Part I and Sifu.

It appears that although God of War: Ragnarök is in contention for Ultimate Game of the Year, it was not released in time to be considered in the other categories. “The game must have been released between November 23, 2021 and November 4, 2022 (when core 2022 voting closes),” the website says. The excellent Bayonetta 3 is also a contender. Which game would you give the Ultimate Game of the Year title to?
