In a short trailer, Larian Studios promises a triumphant return of a particular “dynamic duo” from the Forgotten Realms story in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Larian Studios appears to be bringing one of the series’ fan-favourite characters to Baldur’s Gate 3. The teaser came as a short trailer announcing the game’s participation at The Game Awards.
Although Baldur’s Gate 3 will be set in the same universe as its predecessors, the game’s plot will take place 120 years after the conclusion of Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn.
Despite the time difference, it seems that players in Baldur’s Gate 3 will be able to meet Minsc, the madcap hero of the previous games.
In a short trailer announcing its Game Awards appearance, Larian Studios showed off a statue of Minsc and Boo in the title city of Baldur’s Gate. The statue, erected in honour of the beloved ranger and his miniature giant space hamster, is shrouded in darkness. However, when the camera pans to the statue’s face, a magical bolt of lightning strikes the statue’s head, the foliage burns and the statue’s eyes begin to glow, indicating that the statue may not be what it seems.
Players familiar with other Dungeons and Dragons material may be less surprised by Minsc’s apparent return in Baldur’s Gate 3. Minsc’s petrification and subsequent freedom were detailed in the Legends of Baldur’s Gate comic book series. His recent escapes were also featured in the semi-official Dungeons and Dragons sourcebook, Minsc and Boo’s Journal of Villainy. Similarly, the dynamic duo has also appeared as Magic: The Gathering cards in the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms setting.
Many Baldur’s Gate fans are excited to see Minsc make a triumphant return in the new sequel.
Some intrepid players have already discovered Minsc and Jaheira’s, models. Now, it seems Larian Studios is ready to reveal Minsc’s presence in the game, which means Jaheira will almost certainly return.
Some players were less than enthusiastic about Minsc’s return in Baldur’s Gate 3. Although Minsc is quite popular, he is still a comical character. His absurd antics are not to all players’ tastes. These gamers would instead Baldur’s Gate 3 to rely on new characters than please the audience with cameos. Players will not have to wait long to find out what role Minsc will play in Baldur’s Gate 3. The full reveal trailer will air during The Game Awards on December 8. With any luck, it might come with the game’s release date.
