Sony Will Release Two New Shooter Games for PS5 in the Near Future, According to a Leak

While Microsoft will gain a significant advantage if it acquires the Call of Duty series with Activision Blizzard, Sony is not slowing down either, and has several shooter games up its sleeve. Where do we get this from? A leak tells us so.

ResetEra has brought to our attention that Frank Aliberti, a character artist currently working at 2K Games, previously worked on several games for Sony and PlayStation Studios between September 2021 and October 2022, and lists two shooters on his ArtStation CV. They don’t have titles yet, but Aliberti has already announced them in his profile: one is a TPS scheduled for 2023, which will focus on co-operative mode, and the other is due in 2024, and will be an FPS. Both will debut on PlayStation 5, according to their cover images. Of less interest to us now, the artist has also been working on Firewall Ultra, which will be one of the flagship shooters for PS VR2, due for launch in February 2023.

Some speculate the co-operative TPS to be a sequel to the co-operative sci-fi action game Helldivers, which was released in 2015 for PS3, PS4, PS Vita and PC. The other FPS could be the work of Deviation Games, a development team that announced in 2021 that it would make a new game based on an original idea under an agreement with PlayStation Studios. It’s not yet clear if it will be an FPS, but one of their previous job postings strongly suggested that it would be. And then there’s Firewalk Studios, which has also agreed a deal with Sony in 2021 to develop a AAA multiplayer-focused title for PlayStation platform among others. Firewalk veterans have previously worked on Call of Duty, Destiny, Apex Legends, Mass Effect and Halo. So both studios have a strong chance of making shooter games for Sony.

We’ve known for a while that the publisher plans to launch at least 10 live-action games by 2026, and it was recently revealed that many of those will be coming to PC.
