Ubisoft Plus: Can We Have Subscription Levels Here Too?! The Company Hinted at it in a Survey!

A survey potentially reveals that Ubisoft plans to make Ubisoft Plus expands its game subscription service to several levels.

A survey revealed that Ubisoft is considering expanding its subscription service with several new layers. Subscription services are increasingly popular among major video game publishers and platforms, such as Sony PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass, and EA Play. Ubisoft Plus is relatively simple compared to these other services, but since Ubisoft’s future is a strong 2023, perhaps the publisher is interested in increasing its monetization efforts.

Formerly known as Uplay Plus, it first launched in 2019 as a subscription game service that provides access to Ubisoft’s game library for a monthly fee. This includes one-day access to many of Ubisoft’s latest games. The service was initially a PC-only service, but has since been released for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The service normally costs $14.99 per month, but offers just $1 off the first month.

A new survey released by the PC GOG store may indicate that Ubisoft wants to expand the service soon. The GOG survey contains a specific, interesting question. It asks what subscription services the interviewed person is subscribed to. However, instead of only Ubisoft Plus being the answer, there are surprisingly three options. Ubisoft Plus Gold, Ubisoft Plus Ultimate and Ubisoft Plus Deluxe are also among the possible subscriptions to choose from.

For those who are not familiar with this service, the subscription has no selectable levels. The closest thing to it is the Ubisoft Plus Classics library available with a PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium subscription. Gold, Ultimate, and Deluxe do not currently exist or have been publicly announced.

Either GOG knows something that video gamers don’t or this is a very odd inclusion in their survey. Given that it’s a survey, that means it probably hasn’t been thoroughly checked, so it’s hardly reliable with any degree of certainty. Still, there’s no clear explanation as to why Plus Gold, Ultimate, and Deluxe are included, unless there’s more to it than meets the eye.

The most compelling aspect that makes this look like more than a bug is that many other services already offer tiered subscriptions. Xbox Game Pass has Ultimate, EA Play has Pro, and PlayStation Plus has three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Creating different tiers that split up the benefits of the service and charge more for access to new games would be something gamers could expect from Ubisoft. Whether this is true remains to be seen.
