PS Plus Premium: Great News For PSP Game Fans!

A classic PSP game, available as part of the PS Plus Premium offering, is getting a new update that adds full trophy support.

Super Stardust Portable, a PSP game available as part of PS Plus Premium, has received an update that adds trophy support. Premium is the most expensive tier in the revamped PS Plus and comes with some unique benefits not available in other tiers.

PS Plus Premium members can stream a range of PS3 titles at no extra cost, and have access to a selection of PS1, PS2 and PSP games.

As reported by Push Square, Super Stardust Portable now has full trophy support thanks to a new update. Super Stardust Portable was added to PlayStation Plus Premium in June 2022. It is one of the few PSP games available on the subscription service. According to Push Square, this event marks the first time a PlayStation Classic game has received trophy support since its launch on PS Plus. This news could pave the way for other PSP titles to receive trophy support in the future. However, fans will have to wait for official confirmation from the developer or publisher.

Players can check out the complete trophy list for Super Stardust Portable, including the coveted platinum trophy, on PSNProfiles. The other trophies challenge users to play through the various modes available in the game, including arcade, survival and endless modes. For those who don’t know, Super Stardust Portable is an arcade shoot-’em-up created by Housemarque, the developer of Resogun and Returnal. PlayStation acquired Housemarque in 2021 after a long run of exclusive titles such as Matterfall and Alienation.

While hundreds of PS5 and PS4 titles are available to PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, the collection of classic games has been criticised for its relatively poor line-up: Sony only adds a few classic games to PS Plus each month, with the Extra tier usually getting more titles.

For example, Sony added Hot Shots Golf 2, Star Wars Demolition and Syphon Filter 3 to PS Plus Premium in January 2023. All three were PS1 games. PS Plus Premium also added two PSP games in December 2022. Pinball Heroes and Ridge Racer 2 were added to the list. As well as the PS1 game Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus.
