MOVIE NEWS – Super Marios Bros advertises itself as a family business, offers plumbing services and is looking for employees. Mario and Luigi, the founding brother and sister owners, can be called around the clock, but they only operate in two New York neighborhoods, Brooklyn and Queens, so Manhattanites can avoid traffic jams themselves.
The latter comment already comes from Variety magazine, which reports on the company’s new website. It’s natural that the Universal studio, the Illumination animation company (Gru, Sing!) and Nintendo are behind the joke, among other things, this is how they promote their joint new production, aptly titled Super Mario Bros.: The Movie.
The Marios are looking for dispatchers, accountants, marketers and drivers on the website, and if someone calls the given Brooklyn number, they will be answered by a voice with a strong Italian accent.
Variety does not keep silent about the fact that a live-action version of the classic video game was already made in 1993, which was considered completely unwatchable, and even Bob Hoskins and Bob Leguizamo, who played the pixelated heroes, could not help. However, the creators of the current version are confident because they tested their production on the fans, who gave it their blessing. The fact that Sonic the Hedgehog didn’t pass the fan filter on its first run two years ago may also have played a role in this maneuver, a few things had to be redesigned to calm everyone down.
