According to an insider rumour, Xbox Game Pass might be getting a remaster or remake of one of the best fighting games ever made.

An insider has shared that one of the best fighting game franchises, Soulcalibur, may be coming to Xbox Game Pass in the future. Soulcalibur is one of Bandai Namco’s most important fighting game franchises. The first Soulcalibur game made an impressive debut on the Sega Dreamcast.

From there, the series was ported to other major consoles, and on Xbox, Soulcalibur 2, originally released on Xbox, was the fighting game franchise’s first debut, with special exclusive guest star Spawn.

After Soulcalibur 4, the franchise was released on Xbox with mainline entries. In fact, the Xbox 360 even got the HD port of the original game. The latest rumours are that Soulcalibur will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass at some point.

This was shared on The Xbox Era podcast by insider Shpeshal Nick. He says that “everyone loves a good remaster” while talking about the Soulcalibur franchise. He says his source, however, was unclear on what specifically he was talking about. So he’s unsure if he’s talking about a remaster of the original Soulcalibur or a collection of Soulcalibur games. He believes that this collection could eventually see Game Pass sales as a result.

Nick claims that his source was vague about whether it is currently in development or if Bandai Namco is just considering bringing the franchise to Xbox Game Pass.

He reiterates that all he knows from the message he received is that it’s Soulcalibur. It should be emphasized that this is just a rumour. Many claims by insiders like Nick have been proven wrong. Nick himself has admitted this. So fans should take this news with a grain of salt until more official information emerges.

As for Bandai Namco’s confirmed fighting game announcements, it seems that the publisher’s priority is Tekken 8 and Dragon Ball-related games. Tekken 8 will be released on multiple platforms. The rivalry between Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima is entering its final chapter. Bandai Namco also unveiled a brand new Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi game. The series is looking to return after the last instalment more than a decade ago. Fans will have to wait and see if this Soulcalibur Xbox Game Pass rumour is confirmed.
