The Creators of Dying Light Have Presented a New Fantasy Game

The Techland studio, which made the zombie action game Dying Light, is working on a new fantasy game. The as-yet-untitled project is set in a vast and exotic open world, with a strong emphasis on storytelling and parkour movement. The developers have now shared a new concept art for the game.

Techland announced last May that they were working on a “AAA-quality open-world action-RPG” game set in a fantasy setting. The first concept art showed a natural landscape with large boulders and ruined temples. In the current drawing, however, we can discover more details.

Firstly, we see a character climbing up a branch of a large tree. This suggests that the parkour movement seen in Dying Light will return in this game. On the other hand, we can get a better sense of the size and variety of the world: in all directions, we see a vast landscape in which we can discover villages and churches. It will not be a lonely and desolate world. Nor is it set on an alternate Earth: in the sky, we see a moon broken into large chunks.

See for yourself in the image below:

“We never stop evolving! Our latest game will be a narrative-driven #fantasy epic with an exotic open world to explore. We strive to create an immersive story-driven #AAA title that combines and refines the best aspects of gameplay that Techland is known for.”– Techland wrote on Twitter.

Not much is known about the game yet, but last year it was announced that several CD Projekt Red veterans had been signed on, including The Witcher 3 narrative directors Karolina Stachyra and Arkadiusz Borowik, and open-world director Bartosz Ochman. Here’s what Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka had to say:

“Our ambition is to introduce a brand new IP (private label) that is very different from what we have been doing for the last few years. We want to create a completely next-gen experience. A new fantasy epic story set in a vast open world that we feed with new ideas, passion and creativity using the skills and experience we’ve gained over the years. While we can’t share any more details about this project right now, we are all really committed to it and look forward to bringing it to players when the time comes.”

The game’s platforms, release date or even title are not yet known. But what do you think? Are you excited to find out more?
