Aliens: Dark Descent: The Xenomorph Slaughter Might About To Begin! [VIDEO]

Aliens: Dark Descent has been given a release date in a new trailer, which also shows a brief snippet of its real-time strategy gameplay.

A recent gameplay trailer for Aliens: Dark Descent also gives the game’s release date. It will be the first Alien game in the real-time strategy genre since Alien Versus Predator: Extinction, which was released in 2003.

The new gameplay trailer gives prospective players their first look at what to expect in Aliens: Dark Descent.

The game is a real-time strategy game in which the player acts as the commander of a squad of Colonial Marines. Your mission is to inspect a massive Xenomorph colony. The combat system seems to be intuitive. The player issues orders, and the game automatically sends the best-equipped Marine to carry out the task. Players can slow down time during combat to make it easier to give orders. But they cannot stop the flow of time altogether.

From the gameplay trailer, it looks like Aliens: Dark Descent will be a relatively hardcore real-time strategy game. According to the trailer, the loss of a Colonial Marine is irreversible. However, it appears that the player may encounter survivors hidden around the Tantalus base. They might be recruited into the team. Towards the end of the trailer, a brief description and footage show how squad development and customisation will work. Finally, the trailer concludes with a release date of 20 June 2023. The game will be developed by Tindalos Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment.

The developer has previously worked on real-time strategy games set in the Warhammer 40K universe, notably Battlefleet Gothic: Armada and its sequel, which were relatively well received.

All this should give fans hope that Aliens: Dark Descent can break the curse of the Alien games, which some say has plagued the franchise since the notoriously disastrous release of Aliens: Colonial Marines.
