Metaverse and avatars: the world’s first Web3 reality show is conquering

Twelve startups are competing for the “big Web3 entrepreneur” award in Binance’s recently launched Build The Block, a new online reality show. The world’s largest crypto exchange is the first to create reality in the metaverse.

Binance recently unveiled its revolutionary new global digital series, Build The Block, in which Web3 startups compete for the company’s first prize. The show format is both form-breaking and form-creating: apart from the world’s largest crypto exchange, no one has yet launched a reality show in the metaverse.

In the series, twelve startups compete for the first prize: each of them fights to impress the audience and the professional jury with their own project. The latter by Yi He, co-founder of Binance; Yibo Ling, the company’s deputy general manager of business; Coin Bureau co-founder Guy Turner; It is formed by Azeem Khan, a member of the World Economic Forum’s Crypto Sustainability Coalition, and Robby Yung, CEO of Animoca Brands. The show is hosted by one of the best-known faces in the genre: Justin Bratton, host of Asia’s Got Talent.

The purpose of the show is not only to entertain, but also for startups to receive feedback and advice from potential investors. The contestants were selected from more than 900 applicants. Contestants compete live in the all-virtual reality show in front of a huge studio audience and a panel of judges. The show was produced by Binance Studio, the company’s in-house global Web3 creative studio. The entire plot takes place in the metaverse, using virtual cameras. The actual contestants in the show are actually virtual human avatars.

The show will be broadcast in seven episodes on Binance’s YouTube channel and on the company’s own platform, Binance Live. Already in the first part, big players such as Mind Network and Kryptoskatt compete against each other. Mind Network, which brings its AI analytics capabilities to blockchain technology, was founded by Dr. Mason Song, former head of AI and blockchain at Citybank, Alibaba data expert George Shao, and renowned cybersecurity expert Dennis Song. Kryptoskatt, which provides effective assistance in taxation, portfolio management and reporting related to cryptocurrencies, was created by Sukesh Tedla, co-founder of Telos and member of The Swedish Blockchain Association.

Episodes can be watched back to back, with the finale set for Friday, June 2. The twelve competing teams include, among others, a software development company enabling the financing of Web3, a platform offering data protection, a company accelerating global micropayments, and a blockchain platform. The show also features a company that develops video games, access restrictions for Web3 applications, and deals with internet data protection.

“Build The Block is Binance’s latest innovative experiment, creating the industry’s first metaverse investment competition. The program attracted an outstanding number of entrepreneurs and startups to present their Web3 projects. We hope that the unique format will inspire others to innovate further,” Yi He said.

He added: they believe in the possibilities of the metaverse and blockchain technology – their goal is to build the future of the Internet in cooperation with an active community on new platforms.
