Star Wars Outlaws: How Big A Role Will The Rebellion Play In The Game’s Plot?

Star Wars Outlaws takes players into a dangerous time in the galaxy, and the Rebel Alliance could prove vital to Kay Vess’ journey.

Ubisoft recently unveiled Star Wars Outlaws. It looks like it could be exactly what fans expect from an open-world Star Wars game. In it, players take on the role of thief Kay Vess as she adventures through the galaxy’s underworld. Not much is known about the game’s story yet, but it will undoubtedly be full of all the classic Star Wars goodness that fans of the franchise have come to expect.

Star Wars Outlaws will tell a new story between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

While the story will follow a Star Wars character independent of the Rebellion, the Rebel Alliance will likely play a role in the larger narrative. It was a tumultuous time in the Star Wars galaxy that required the most unlikely heroes to take up arms against the Galactic Empire. That duty may or may not fall to Vess to some extent, whether intentionally or not.

The Rebellion may play a role in Star Wars Outlaws

In Empire Strikes Back, the Rebel Alliance hit rock bottom in the original trilogy. After the Rebels destroyed the Death Star, the Galactic Empire responded by attacking their secret base on Hoth. This forced the rebels to flee. Luke Skywalker was forced to head for Dagobah, and the galaxy was plunged further into war. The Rebels were crushed, the heroes torn apart. Things only got worse from there.

Han Solo froze in carbonite, Luke failed to defeat Darth Vader, and the remaining Rebels fled into the unknown.

Return of the Jedi picks up a year after The Empire Strikes Back. A lot has happened in that time. The rebel fleet can rebuild, Luke trains with Yoda, and Leia can discover Han Solo’s whereabouts. All the while, the galaxy descends deeper into war. Criminal syndicates such as the Crimson Dawn take up arms against the Empire. While we have seen none of this on the big screen, dozens of comic books have detailed the period.

A hivatalos weboldal szerint a Star Wars Outlaws a PC-s játékok egyik legnagyobb terjesztőjét mellőzheti majd, amikor jövőre megjelenik.

Star Wars Outlaws will take place during this turbulent period. In the short introduction trailer, there was a shot of someone who looked like Han Solo frozen in carbonite. This could simply be an easter egg, or it could be a reference to Kay Vess’ larger role in the Rebel Alliance. The hunt for Han Solo was an essential part of this era. Vess may have had a significant role in helping the rebels discover the whereabouts of the rebel.

Kay Vess, the Solo thief?!

Han Solo was moved around a lot before Leia discovered him at the beginning of Return of the Jedi. After Boba Fett took her from Bespin, she was kidnapped by the Crimson Dawn in an elaborate plot to get the Hutts to declare war on the Empire. Qi’ra from Solo: A Star Wars Story orchestrated the whole thing and tried to auction him off. Fett managed to stop him, but these events almost pushed the galaxy further into war.

There is a chance that Kay Vess played a role in either stealing Solo or rescuing him, but players will just have to wait and see.

Kay Vess may also have played a role in helping to reunite the rebel fleet after the events of The Empire Strikes Back. The rebels devised a plan known as Operation Starlight, in which they attempted to steal a century-old droid from Coruscant. This droid was supposed to help the rebels create an unbreakable code so they could secretly reunite. Vess is supposedly plotting to steal the century. Stealing this droid from Coruscant seems essential. The planet may not be in the Outer Rim, but Ubisoft may very well be hiding the actual narrative of the game.
