The PlayStation Plus subscription service has confirmed that ten games will leave the Extra and Premium tiers in August 2023.
PlayStation Plus’ Last Chance to Play section has confirmed ten games that will leave the Extra and Premium tiers of the subscription service in August 2023. The free PS Plus games are available to subscribers of the Essential tier will be retained for as long as they remain PS Plus subscribers after they have been taken up. But the same logic does not apply to games that can be played through Extra and Premium tiers.
Games available through PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers will rotate. Sony will add new games to the tiers every month. But it also removes games from the range every month, usually around the middle of each month.
The “Last Chance to Play” section informs fans exactly which games will be released each month, and right now, fans know ten titles that are likely to be released in August 2023.
PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers will lose 8-Bit Armies, Borderlands 3, Carmageddon: Max Damage, DCL – The Game, GRIP, Nidhogg, The Crew 2, Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. No specific release date has been announced at the time of writing. But there is a good chance that they will be out in mid-August, when a new batch of PS Plus Extra and Premium games will be added.
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games will be removed in August 2023:
- 8-Bit Armies
- Borderlands 3
- Carmageddon: Max Damage
- DCL – The Game
- GRIP
- Nidhogg
- The Crew 2
- Yakuza 0
- Yakuza Kiwami
- Yakuza Kiwami 2
PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers will see the departure of some major titles in August 2023. Borderlands 3 will easily be the title contender. Gearbox’s big cooperative first-person shooter, which received mostly positive reviews when it launched in 2019. It was one of the most successful titles of the year. The sheer content of Borderlands 3’s removal from the PS Plus lineup will surely hurt some fans.
Nidhogg, meanwhile, may not be nearly as famous as Borderlands 3, but it still offers a quality experience that it’s sad to see removed from PS Plus.
Fans of the Yakuza franchise will be disappointed to see Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 also out. Especially considering that Yakuza 0 is often touted as one of the best games in the franchise.
The good news is that PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers still have time to play through these games while they’re still available on the service. Those interested should check out the games as soon as possible.
