Electronic Arts is not leaving out Ultimate Team from its first post-FIFA football game.

Ultimate Team has been poisoning EA Sports football games for over a decade. The mode, which is present in several of their other sports games as well, earned the publisher a total of $1.62 billion in the 2021 fiscal year (April 2020 to the end of March 2021), so it’s worth it, to put it mildly, for Electronic Arts to include Ultimate Team (or UT for short) in their annual sports games, which no sensible player would not only not try, but would leave almost at the first opportunity, showing it their middle finger, despite constantly throwing themselves up in the menus.

EA Sports FC 24, the first football game without a FIFA license, will have Ultimate Team, and this year, it will include female footballers, too. Electronic Arts executive producer John Shepherd told IGN: “It’s something we thought deeply about. We feel we can play a significant role in the growth of that sport by introducing it to all of our fans. We just have this conviction that we believe we want to unite the world around football. Ultimate Team is a great place for that. It is a mode where you can build your fantasy team with different nationalities, leagues, and clubs. And so it felt like a great spot to do that.”

Not everyone liked the move because some think mixing male and female players is unrealistic. “Ultimate Team is a fantasy mode. You don’t see Mbappe playing with all the Icons. It’s Ultimate Team — fantasy football is what’s happening there,” said Sam Rivera, senior producer. Electronic Arts will aim to step up against toxic behavior, primarily against sexist and racist Ultimate Team names: “It’s something we take seriously. It’s an ongoing thing. It’s a constant effort. Our team within EA is fully focused on toxicity and understanding what’s happening in the game. We are moving to newer systems even for this next game, where we’re using new services to help us monitor names,” Shepherd added.

The real reason? Money. Nothing else. Everything else is just bulls__t. Ultimate Team is nothing but a gambling game that causes addiction.
