Kingpin Actor Vincent D’Onofrio’s Has a Blunt Response to Daredevil: Born Again Concerns

MOVIE NEWS – Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Kingpin actor, Vincent D’Onofrio, gives a straightforward answer to those worried about next year’s Daredevil: Born Again.

Vincent D’Onofrio responds to concerns about changes with Daredevil: Born Again, addressing concerns about potential changes with a simple message: “Patience. Patience…” D’Onofrio has previously defended the upcoming series and teased that the violence will be similar to that in the Netflix series. Fans don’t need to worry about Kingpin’s portrayal in the Daredevil: Born Again series as the character’s differences in Hawkeye were due to the lighter tone. The new Daredevil series may fully embrace its grim and dark nature.

Vincent D’Onofrio is aware of the Daredevil: Born Again concerns, and the Kingpin actor has a raw answer to them. D’Onofrio played Wilson Fisk – Kingpin – in Netflix’s Daredevil series for three seasons, from which derive the versions of Matt Murdock and Fisk now portrayed in the MCU by Charlie Cox and D’Onofrio, and which are now thriving in the MCU. Updates to Daredevil: Born Again suggest that the series will have some significant deviations from the original, and fans are worried about the changes.

D’Onofrio shared a raw response on Twitter to a Marvel fan expressing concern about potential changes to Daredevil: Born Again compared to the original series.

The actor simply said, “Patience. Patience…” This isn’t the first time the Kingpin actor has publicly defended the upcoming series from criticisms. D’Onofrio previously teased that the violence in Daredevil: Born Again will be similar to the Netflix series. Although this could be true, Kingpin was noticeably different in his Hawkeye appearance, and fans are worried that the character won’t be as good as in the original series.

Why Should Daredevil Fans Not Worry About Hawkeye’s Kingpin?

The Kingpin in Hawkeye is dramatically different from the one fans got to know and love in Netflix’s Daredevil series. The character in the MCU series has capabilities, as he is able to withstand a series of arrows and a direct explosion, something that would have never been possible for the earlier version of the character played by D’Onofrio.

Another significant change in Wilson Fisk is that he wasn’t nearly as threatening in Hawkeye as he became known in Daredevil. This was the biggest issue for fans of the original series when they watched Kingpin’s full MCU debut. Fisk was not only an extremely violent villain who brutally killed and harmed numerous characters in the original series, he could be just as threatening without moving a finger, which Hawkeye didn’t convey.

Although Kingpin was different in Hawkeye, this shouldn’t worry fans about how he will be portrayed in next year’s Daredevil: Born Again. Hawkeye was a much lighter series than what the new Daredevil series is expected to be, explaining why D’Onofrio’s Kingpin wasn’t as brutal. Daredevil himself went through the same process in the two-episode series She-Hulk: Lawyering Up, where Cox played a lighter version of the character. Since the MCU needs to fully embrace the darkness with the new series, Daredevil: Born Again can be as grim as necessary.
