Remnant 2: Barely Out Yet, But Already A Huge Success?!

Remnant 2 exceeds sales expectations and gets more simultaneous players than its predecessor, making it a huge success a week after its release.

The newly released Remnant 2 sold over a million copies in a single week. The game improves on its predecessor in several ways. This seems to have been reflected in the popularity of the new title, which has surprised even Gearbox Publishing’s expectations with its sales.

Remnant 2 is a third-person shooter game inspired by the Souls games and serves as a sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes.

Offering more character-building variety, complex boss fights, new weapons and more, the game has been hailed by critics as an improvement over its predecessor. It was already clear that the new game would be a success when it became a Steam bestseller before its release.

According to an official announcement from Gearbox Publishing, Remnant 2 has sold over a million copies and doubled the number of simultaneous players of its predecessor. According to Gearbox Publishing President Yoon Im, the game has exceeded the team’s expectations, becoming a commercial and critical success.

The second part differs from its predecessor in several ways. Although both games are set on a post-apocalyptic Earth, most of the mechanics have been significantly refined in the sequel. For example, Remnant 2 prioritises quality over quantity in boss fights. There are fewer of them, but more emphasis on making them more unique. The new Archetype system also offers more variety. The predecessor’s Trait system has also been overhauled. However, procedural generation remains an essential part of the game in the second part.

At the moment, developer Gunfire Games will likely focus on further work on Remnant 2, as the developers have already promised long-term support for the game.

However, the company’s next steps are open to speculation. The obvious candidate for the next game could be a sequel to Chronos: Before The Ashes. The title is loosely set in the same universe as the Remnant games. As such, it would probably be of interest to more players who are currently playing R2.
