Facebook has Decided to Take a Surprising Step: They Are Removing a Basic Option from Messenger’s Functions!

TECH NEWS – If you have an Android phone and used to send SMS using Messenger, then pay attention, because this option will soon disappear. On September 28, Meta (formerly Facebook) will remove sending and receiving SMS from the Messenger app. Why did they make this decision and what should you do if you don’t want to miss anything? We’ll tell you.

If you have an Android phone and used to send and receive SMS with the Messenger app, then unfortunately we have bad news: this option will soon cease. Facebook already introduced this function in its application in 2012, but deleted it in 2013. It was made available again in 2016, but it could only be set as the default SMS app on Android.

Texting has been working continuously in Messenger since 2016, i.e. for seven years, but it won’t stay that way for long, because from September 28, SMS integration will no longer be possible if you update the application. Of course, you will still be able to send or receive SMS via the mobile network using your phone’s default messenger application, and you will also be able to access your SMS history. And if you don’t choose a new default messenger, your SMS messages will be automatically transferred to your phone’s default messenger application, such as the Android Messages application.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook/Messenger, did not explain the reason for the decision, but it was probably because texting is not so popular among people these days, so they don’t want to deal with maintaining the system that supports it.
